Though of the Malfoy household, Lucius not only dresses in the finest threads the wizarding world has to offer, but on his time off, he can be seen donning casual clothing when it fits his needs. However, he is mostly seen dressed in nice two or three piece suits, a cloak of sorts during the winter time, and when he's feeling particularly dressy, a cane to accompany his outfit. Nevertheless, when in casual company or people he doesn't mind seeing him, he will dress comfortably.
Etc.:
Lucius Malfoy is a handsome man by all rights. His hair used to be long and straight during his younger years, but just before his seventh year he cut it short and kept it just above his ears. Despite what his name entails, he does have a bit of a rebellious side. For the most part, Lucius is usually very well dressed and can be seen as a "Prince-type," though minus the arrogant strut and putting on airs sort of deal.

People who think they are better than him, wizards he feels disgrace their name (blood-traitors) - but will tolerate them to a degree, stupidity, wastefulness, failure, being stressed out, being manipulated, falling asleep while reading at his window seat again, showing any sort of vulnerability around others, being treated a certain way just because of his name, the pressure that comes with being born a Malfoy
Basic Personality:
Describing Lucius Malfoy isn't overly complicated, but it's far from simplistic. While his family name is important to him, it does not encompass all that he is. Born into money and power was not something that exactly sat well with Lucius, but he had no choice but to acknowledge it. Because of the ever present "silver spoon" stereotype being thrown at him, Lucius always believed in working hard for anything that he earned in life. One could not count Lucius as one who was not proud to be a Malfoy, but he was more indifferent to the idea. What good was being a Malfoy if all that held you up in society was your name? No. A name meant nothing unless you had skill to back it up with. Which is why Lucius values people of skills in magic and politics versus those who merely saw their pure-blood status as something to brag about. While he wasn't too keen on muggle-borns or half-bloods, he would not immediately consider vouching for a pure-blood if he was too weak to back up his own claims.
Though Lucius is not keen on failure, he will acknowledge it only to himself, regarding it as a lesson learned and one that he must strive hard to make sure does not happen again. Because of this, Lucius is very tenacious and hardworking, diligent in his studies and ever mindful of everything that goes on around him. Ears and eyes open to the world and its goings on, Lucius is not one to be caught off guard at any moment. Lucius also carries himself with a graceful air in the sense of being socially acceptable at formal get togethers, his etiquette near impeccable to those around him. He is not one for starting brawls, nor would he condone brash actions as a true gentleman would handle things diplomatically. Only barbarians resorted to violent actions to solve their conflicts. Most find him charming when he isn't scowling about something that is ticking in that constantly active mind of his.
Lucius, though a bit watered-down in the area of relationships, does find that strong, wholesome relationships are necessary. If one does not have someone to share in the glory with, he feels power and influence is utterly meaningless. Despite his social graces, Lucius can be a bit awkward with women, though many women find themselves drawn in by his magnetic gray eyes, even voice tone, and poetic diction. Lucius feels he is a much better writer than he is a speaker and even chose to court his wife before marriage through post rather than face to face unless he deemed it absolutely necessary. Though he has few friends, the few friends he does have find him pleasant to be around, despite the slightly intimidating aura that billows around him. It is because of this that many misunderstandings occur in regards to Lucius and despite his generally calm demeanor, this greatly irritates him.
BIOGRAPHY
Lucius Malfoy was born and raised as a Malfoy: valuing status and power above all else. However, being born as the only child and heir to the name began to wear the young man out at an early age. All the etiquette, social graces, poise and dignity; it all but consumed him and caused Lucius to become very indifferent. How could it not? Not when the Malfoy lineage was all but being shoved down one's throat. Being a Malfoy had its perks, but overall it simply bored Lucius. All the talk of power and glory from his father didn't help things. While his mother tried to spoil him, his father quickly put a stop to it. He had to earn the title of Malfoy, which was fine with Lucius. He preferred to work for what was given him anyway.
Being a Malfoy, Lucius was brought up around other prominent wizarding families - a prime one being The Blacks. Their views on muggles, muggle-borns and half-bloods were no different than the Malfoys and this did not surprise Lucius - nor did it impress him particularly. All the social gatherings and talks of "this, that, and the other" began to grow rather stale in his regards and so, even before going to Hogwarts, Lucius became indifferent and attached from such silly social graces. He would do his part so as to not embarrass the family, but he would do no less or more than that. Lucius saw no point. Everyone was putting on airs and he felt no need to be doing the same.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, Lucius learned quickly that his name hardly meant anything in these walls. Surprisingly even to himself, he was pleased with this. Though he never voiced his opinions openly about such things, it was his one chance to prove his skills and not having the Malfoy name to back it all up. While Lucius was no "brain" in school, he was a skilled and diligent student - excelling in Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Muggle Studies quickly bored him and he saw it as utterly pointless since he and his family hardly frequented the muggle realm, nor allowed themselves to associate with muggles. However, the one thing he could not turn himself away from was his love of the Dark Arts. Was it truly accurate to call it a "love" of the Dark Arts? Or could he simply refer to it as a sort of fascination? Perhaps the latter. It was just something about hexes and offensive magic that simply drew his attention. Unfortunately, one could only attribute it to his being a Malfoy and the ever unquenchable thirst for power and knowledge of said power.
During his third year, Lucius began challenging others of his house to duels so he could test out his skills. Nevertheless, even he had his limits and was quickly on the losing end of a duel against Andromeda Black. While the defeat was quite damaging to his pride, even Lucius had to acknowledge that her skills as a witch were definitely on levels that exceeded his own. While he held a small grudge against her deep in his heart, Lucius practiced and schooled himself to a point where he would not allow such a travisty to occur a second time. At least not against Andromeda. However, such grudges did not stop him from regarding the other Black sisters in a positive light. Though Bellatrix was a bit much for his taste at times, he could only commend her for being so passioante about her own name and blood status. There certainly had to be someone in the world who held one's name in higher regard than himself. And while Narcissa was beautiful and elegant in her own right, Lucius did not deem her much of merit at first.
It wasn't until Lucius's fifth year that he really began to notice Narcissa. Unlike her sister, Bellatrix, Narcissa was more of a soft and gentle flower with just a hint of spitfire under those golden locks and enchanting smile. During this time, Lucius had gotten word from his father that his mother, Corinne, was falling ill from an ailment that even the best at St. Mungo's could not heal. Completely at a loss of words or how he should be handling the situation, Narcissa was the only one who had truly comforted him in his time of need, despite his infamous poker face. She had been the only one who was able to see through his stone cold mask and distinguish the hurt that, according to her, was fully shown in his steely gray eyes. He had never been able to properly thank her for that day that she'd stayed with him well into the wee hours of the morning as they waited for the healers to release his mother from the hospital. It's one of few regrets that Lucius Malfoy has.
As the years passed, his friendship with the Blacks, as well as Severus Snape, began to give him some semblance of relief. It made him forget, for even a moment, the stress of being a Malfoy and allowed him to be just himself. While there was talk about the Dark Lord, Lucius did not see it fit to involve himself directly with the goings on of what was happening in the wizarding world at that moment. However, his father, Abraxas, spoke highly of Lord Voldemort and encouraged Lucius to grow stronger in magical prowess so as to have the Dark Lord seek him out one day. Not one to argue with his father, Lucius used his time at Hogwarts to prepare himself for service under Voldemort. He'd heard the stories of how powerful the Dark Wizard was from his father who - supposedly - had seen some of the Dark Lord's handiwork. Lucius finds this hard to believe, but does not wish to argue with his father and simply does as he's told - all with an air of indifference, generally. Though he may not be completely keen on the idea of muggles, muggle-borns and those who associate with muggles and the like, Lucius wasn't one to dip his hands directly in the matter. He would not judge, seeing as how Severus Snape, one of his best friends, was a Half-Blood himself.
Now that his education is complete, he feels that the only thing he can really do is find proper work in the Ministry of Magic. Whether or not the Dark Lord approaches him at this point is completely up to Voldemort himself. Lucius's skills were highly spoken of amongst his peers and if they happened to whisper of his skills to where the Dark Lord could hear, then it would be a fortuitous opportunity for him to show his abilities. Despite his apathetic attitude to it all, Lucius couldn't stop the nagging feeling of wanting to please his father and mother from eating away at the back of his mind. This summer would be spent reflecting on his past, his present, and his future.
What will be...will be.
With his job secured in the Ministry, Lucius mostly indulges himself in the occasional party and social functions. He finds research quite intriguing and while Narcissa is still at Hogwarts for the next year and a half, he still frequently corresponds with her through his owls. It is as if, for the first time, he's starting to notice something about the young woman that he had overlooked before. So, with the constant haunting of his mother's illness getting worse and Narcissa's letters his only reprieve from the harsh reality of it, Lucius continues to do what he can and begins strengthening both his mind and body - refusing to allow his household's name to make or break him.
Winter of 1977, Corinne-Delphi Malfoy passed away from her chronic illness that no form of medicine - magic and non-magical alike - could cure. His father felt next to nothing over his mother's passing and from then on, Lucius harbored a bubbling hatred for his father. How could the man whom he shared blood with not care for the death of the woman whose grace and dignity rivaled even that of royalty? Why? But the hatred brewed on and on. Not even his marriage to Narcissa could help quell the fury within him. The birth of his son, Draco, however, managed to curb most of it as best he could. But it was still there, growing inside of him like a cancer.
Lucius's one chance to completely rid himself of the hate came in the form of the First Wizarding War - at its peak. In charge of capturing blood traitors, Lucius did his duties for the Dark Lord. However, after the initial capturing had begun, Lucius left his post to track down the whereabouts of his father. There, amidst all the chaos, destruction and death, Lucius murdered his father as he was getting ready to massacre a family of blood traitors. Satisfied that his goal had been completed, Lucius allowed the family to escape and returned only to find the Dark Lord had disappeared - thwarted by the Potters. It was every man for himself.
Convincing the Ministry that he had been under the influence of the Imperius curse, Lucius was freed from being sentenced to imprisonment in Azkaban so that he was able to stay with his family. He at least attempts to live a quiet life - or as quiet as one can get with a one year-old running around the manor getting into everything whenever he returns home from work.
