     Dark and naturally wavy, though uncontrollably frizzy in the rain.

Style:
     Deirdre took a little while to blossom and in her wait, she didn’t attempt to figure out her own sense of style. She easily bounced between tomboy to feminine dresses and all that is in between, but never managed to find the balance where she’s comfortable. Her breasts finally started developing after the start of her fifth year, which meant some minor alterations to her wardrobe were needed and in the process she attempted to narrow down her style. Deirdre never unpacked her trunk and beside the disused school uniform are all sorts of prints (stars being her favorite) and any equal balance of bright and dull colors.

     Smoking, spicy food, large gatherings where she doesn’t know anyone, fantasy or science fiction books (she doesn’t mind the genre, but finds the writing laborious), being late, never finishing anything
Basic Personality:
     Deirdre easily gets stressed out in situations she has no hope to control, which made her school work a near obsession. She can get so worked up over the little things that she tries to combat it with little craft projects she doesn’t finish or reading or just being alone. Even if she isn’t stressed out, Deirdre tries to come up with ways to be alone.
     Not one to be labeled as anti-social, Deirdre does attend parties though the number thrown has dwindled since the last summer. She tries desperately to be friendly, but Deirdre has such a dark sensibility that it doesn’t always come across. Her outlook on life is deeply cynical and her sarcasm or humor is rarely understood or tolerated, but she is far from a misanthrope.

BIOGRAPHY

     Deirdre McKinnon is the youngest of three children born to Robert and Myrna McKinnon. She isn’t as brave or adventurous as her older brother Stuart and definitely not as outgoing and popular as her sister Marlene, but Deirdre has made peace with the fact that those things aren’t important for her. She isn’t a black sheep, she is a part of a family of black sheep – every McKinnon has their differences and every McKinnon has their similarities.
     Her childhood was simple and happy, but in a lot of ways it felt like she was holding her breath for Hogwarts. Her brother and sister had so many stories about the library, the magic, and the ability to have curtains around her bed so it felt like she had her own room – Deirdre couldn’t wait. She was obsessed. The first book Deirdre ever finished on her own was Hogwarts: A History and when that was no longer enough, she begged each family member for stories about the castle. By September 1, 1974, Deirdre had the features of the sorting ceremony memorized before she ever took place in it.
     When the Sorting Hat announced ‘Ravenclaw!’ and the table of said house erupted in cheers, Deirdre couldn’t mistake the cheers of her sister coming from Hufflepuff. Deirdre completed the journey to her table with a bounce in her step at all the promise in front of her and was promptly introduced to Sturgis Podmore.
     Deirdre’s Hogwarts career was marked with stellar grades, being a prefect for two years, the Seeker for three, and Head Girl position during her final year. There were small blemishes on her record in the personal sense – she wasn’t against bending the rules she just had a horrible habit of getting caught.
     In late spring of 1981, Deirdre graduated. While attitudes had grown more and more somber since the Battle of Hogsmeade in 1978, it was one of the few happy afternoons Deirdre could remember in recent history. She graduated with all twelve N.E.W.T.s and secured a job as an intern for the Committee on Experimental Charms in the Ministry of Magic. That would have been her official title, though her work would be conducted several floors lower in the space chamber of the Department of Mysteries. She was to work as an apprentice to a man that went by the name of Galileo while doing light work during the day for the Committee on Experimental Charms.
     Deirdre never got the chance to tell her parents what she would really be doing, at least as much as she could share. Within weeks of her graduation, Death Eaters attacked the McKinnon home and murdered her parents and brother Stuart. The events of what happened after they fell are fuzzy; though Deirdre listened to Marlene give the full account to the Auror first on the scene she can’t remember it actually happening.
     Ever since their deaths, Deirdre has spent long periods of time locked in the small spare room of Marlene’s flat. She tries not to make her sister worry and makes sure she’s at least out of bed before Marlene comes home from work and dressed. Deirdre had never been able to lie, but it comes out easier now when she tells Marlene what she did all day and talks about roads she didn’t travel and mentions people she didn’t see. When she didn’t go to work at the start of September, Marlene didn’t say much though her questions about Deirdre’s day became more pointed.
