When she is too big to fit into her jeans, sweats and long dresses have become her go to fashion.

     Melissa has kept her ‘girl next door’ charm as she has grown up. She was always labeled a ‘tomboy’ and that very look has stuck with her on her day-to-day wardrobe, but beyond that, Melissa has grown into her looks. One could count her as a late bloomer, and she will agree with this whole heartedly. Now like any young woman, she wears some make up and likes to dress up every now and then.

     Melissa is usually upbeat person with a smile almost always on her face. She tends to look on the brighter side of things in life. She’s athletic which sometimes leads to her spontaneity in her activities. Melissa is extremely loyal to her close friends and very defensive when people try to hurt them. She sticks up for her beliefs and easily gets annoyed with those who think they are better than her. Melissa has a serious side to her as well, especially when she is studying for classes or thinking about the future. She does not easily get afraid of things, except for spiders, but has become a worrier over the past few years. She loves to lay about or play in the sun, and will do anything if offered lots of chocolate, and play with her children. Though when she is exhausted, she is liable to snap at everyone around her quickly and say things she does not mean.

BIOGRAPHY

      Melissa is a half-American, half-British witch born to Michael and Catherine Jones. Michael works in Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures with a specialty in understanding aquatic creatures and Catherine works as a liaison in the Department of Magical Sports and Games in the Ministry of Magic. Michael Jones met the woman who soon became his wife during a vacation to London to watch the World Cup that year. The two had a whirl wind romance that lead to Catherine becoming pregnant with Melissa before either adult was truly ready for it. To make things as right as possible, Michael proposed and married Catherine, insisting that his actions was more than just for the baby. The two settled in a modest house in Brent, a borough of London shortly before Melissa was born at St. Mungo’s Hospital. Neither left the London area, but eventually moved up to Harrow after their second child was born, Michael Jones II, a little less than a year later.

      Through her father, Melissa developed a love for country music and classic rock, particular the songs of Elvis Presley, that Michael Jones would play in the evenings after work. It was her father who gave her her first ball to play with when she was still a tiny toddler and she never put it down except when she wanted to kick it. Many of her other loves she cultivated over the years on her own, like her need to eat Mexican food when possible thanks to the nearby whole in the wall place that served the best food in the world to her. On many an occasion, she would find herself just hanging out nearby and could manage to get free chips and guacamole if she stayed around long enough.

      When she was eleven, Melissa received her Hogwarts letter as expected by everyone in her family. Her parents and extended family of course were overjoyed to see that another witch was in the family. Michael Jones had wanted his daughter to attend his own alma mater in America, but Catherine had to explain to him that Melissa’s name had been in the books since her birth. So that was that. Melissa boarded the Hogwarts Express not long after that and wound up in Gryffindor House, which had turned out to be a surprise to her mother who had lived in Ravenclaw years ago. After first seeing the Common Room of Gryffindor and getting to know those whom she now considers as friends, she could not see herself in any other house. She loved her time at Hogwarts and learned a lot. Most of her energy was spent playing Quidditch and working on her school work, but she managed to make a good number of friends from several of the houses.

      Over the years, she dated a few different guys, but things never worked out. In her sixth year, she and Daniel finally got together when they realized that they both really liked each other. It all started out with a bunch of confusing emotions but they figured it out in the end. The two of them managed to keep their relationship going through the rest of their Hogwarts days, though with a few bumps in the road. It took her longer than she cares to admit to realize that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Daniel. Her best friend was the first person to learn about it after she and Daniel had moved in together into a tiny one room flat in London. The place didn’t look like much for a while with their meager salaries, but it was theirs and came with a great view of the city. On days when Daniel became sick, Melissa hung up a large white sheet over the door that lead to the tiny balcony and with a few spells remade the ocean view her boyfriend loved so much. Not long after she was ready to wring Daniel’s neck for making her wait so long, he finally got down on one knee to ask her to marry him. Melissa and Daniel’s wedding was small and private, just close family and friends that could be there at a moment's notice.

      She and Daniel had both been members of the Order of the Phoenix with many of their friends. Things turned dark in a hurry soon after that brief stint of happiness. When Melissa found herself pregnant with what would soon be her first child, she took a break from the Order and had to stay away longer after she got pregnant the second and then the third time. After a very long discussion with her husband, it had been decided that Daniel would stay in the Order as long as possible to help their friends fight Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Melissa feared each night that Daniel was not by her side that he would never return to her. There had been one too many close calls for Melissa’s liking, especially when Bellatrix almost killed him.

      As far as work went, Melissa managed to make the reserves for Puddlemere United the summer after graduation. The first few weeks of work felt like a dream to her since a number of her Quidditch idols were on that team. Of course they rarely worked together during the normal week. She spent the next two years working her way up to the top Chaser spot in the Reserves and even got to play over half a game for Puddlemere in the 1979 Season. The spot would have remained hers but she had to take a break from the sport to go on maternity leave. So as not to just be stuck at home sitting on her bum, she talked her way into a Personal Trainer job with the Puddlemere Team where she helped them keep in shape while staying safely on the ground. The new job kept her busy and happy during the daylight hours. In her spare time, which wasn’t much, Melissa took up a bunch of books and studied new protection spells that she often tested out on her own home, along with new spells to help her take care of her children.

      First Rebecca arrived on the 7th of April in 1980, then followed by fraternal twins, Matthew and Elizabeth on the 23rd of July in 1981. Her parents visit often to help take care of the children along with Daniel’s siblings, Mark and Emily. Even Melissa’s brother Mikey had shown up on different occasions to tease her and play with the the babies. Everyone helping out here and there was a huge relief for Melissa’s piece of mind and helped her realize how lucky she was to have such a loving family, even if they did not always get along.

      One evening, Melissa took up the open opportunity to take even a few hours from her home and children to have dinner and get groceries with Mikey. The kids were safe with their father taking care of them. Unfortunately that night she and Mikey were caught off guard when they left the restaurant by two Death Eaters. A fight ensued quickly with Mikey taking on the stronger of the two attackers. Melissa was disappointed to see that she was not as strong nor as good as her brother. Her time away had made her rusty. After the first Death Eater bit the dust, Mikey fell limp next to her seconds after her. Fear and anger filled her mind that made Melissa bring up a spell to finish off the Death Eater who had killed her brother. She hates ever remembering that night. Now she just tries to focus on work and the family that she still has, avoiding her pain instead of confronting it.
