RICHARD KEVIN WALLACE
Full Name: Richard Kevin Wallace Nicknames: Rick, Rich Date of Birth: July 4, 1955 Hometown: Manchester Education: Former Gryffindor, Class of 1973 Blood Status: Pure blood (as far as he knows) Occupation: Captain; Chaser Employer: Puddlemere United Quidditch Team Wand Type: Pine with powdered dragon scale, 12" |
APPEARANCE
Hair:
Brown; kept short and trim.
Eyes:
Blue; they photograph very well.
Height:
1.84 m; Athletic, fit; generally very well maintained.
Style:
Generally, one could say Rick is 'clean-cut'. He always has his hair well groomed, just the right amount of facial hair, though he tends to let the facial hair grow out a bit in the off-season. He is one of the better-kept Puddlemere United team members. Rick sees his appearance as an investment and will sometimes spend more on clothes or accessories if he believes they will help him make a better impression.Etc.:
Well-defined and muscular, Rick and his abs have made several appearances in Witch Weekly since he became a starter for the Puddlemere team. The witch's magazine has done so many features on his stomach that most of their faithful readers could probably identify him without seeing his face, which knows how to smile so classically well. He looks like Prince Charming, if the Prince spent as much time in the gym as Rick does.
PERSONALITY
Erised:
Win a World Cup with Puddlemere; have a long and full quidditch career so that he can help support his family.
Dementor:
An attack on the headquarters of ENLIGHTEN, an activist publication that started up during the war, determined to share any and all knowledge available with the public, when the Daily Prophet refused. Rick had gone on a run for food when the attack happened and approached as the attackers were leaving; there was a lot of injuries and three deaths - of the figureheads of the paper. He hasn't shaken the feeling that if he would have been present, perhaps things would have gone differently.
Patronus:
Scoring his first goal with Puddlemere United - Faye to Quinn to Wallace in a season ender against the Ballycastle Bats.
Boggart:
Drowning - though he likes to swim, Rick has an intense fear of drowning after falling under the ice when he went skating by himself but everyone was too busy with the baby to go with him. Surprisingly, it was his father who caught on, saw him fall and managed to fish him out.
Likes:
Quidditch, girls - blondes in particular, good beers, drinking in general, parties, being in the spotlight, attention, fanmail, fan gifts, doing interviews, quidditch strategy, running, swimming, working out in general, his fellow teammates, his coaches, Puddlemere United (and did even before he was part of the team), reading the Daily Prophet, signing autographs, taking and being in pictures, supporting worthy causes, being charitable.
Dislikes:
Peanuts (a family allergy), shellfish (an allergy he picked up on his own).
Basic Personality:
Rick's personality is friendly; almost to a fault and certainly to an annoyance. Even as a child he was overly friendly with strangers or new faces. His friendly personality makes him easy to get along with. He tries to do everything he can for everyone where ever and when ever he is needed. Somehow, he manages not to burn out completely, which is again particularly annoying. But Rick's personality the way it is, he manages to charm you somehow so that you forget; at least until he leaves the room again.
FAMILY HISTORY

Kevin (deceased) and Alicia Wallace

Logan Steven Wallace
Spouse/Significant Other:

Thelma Hughes, a fantastically doting grandmother who knits and gives him hard candies any time he sees her.

A screech owl named Peter.
Biography:
There were almost six whole years in Rick's life before his baby brother Logan was born that he hardly remembers but likes to refer to as 'the good old days'. Being only a young child, it would be easy to say Rick's estimation was just to goad his brother, but he was right. At one point in their lives the Wallace family had a comfortable living in a decent house with money to put food on the table. Then his father lost his job and things started to go downhill. They lived with Muggles and used their money so that they could get by. His father seemed to lose interest in everything; a fact that Rick sees now but avoided as a child. He tried to keep his little brother out of the constant fighting with games like Wizard's chess and they were both content in pretending that all of the banging was wrath the pieces were taking out on each other, not on their parents.
When he started at Hogwarts, Rick came into his own finding a passion for quidditch and making lots of good friends, many of whom he still keeps in touch with. Hogwarts was a welcome reprieve from an unhappy household and young as he was he selfishly enjoyed his time away and thought very little of the unhappy house or the unhappy little brother that grew up in it alone. Instead he focused on his studies and on the quidditch pitch to try to ignore the problems at home. Hard work paid off and he was drafted out of school directly to Puddlemere United's Reserve team.
It was shortly after his graduation that tragedy struck. Though to this day Rick still does not understand exactly how such a thing could have happened there was a gas leak, an explosion and his father was killed, his mother badly injured. Suddenly, the salary he was making was becoming drastically more important to the family. To avoid jeopardizing the money that was coming in, Logan stayed home to take care of their mother, who to this day does not seem like she has ever fully recovered. Quietly, he continues to support his mother, his grandmother and his brother in any way he can; wanting to step up and fill the inexplicable void his father left him.
Rick likes his brother, but they are not friends. They share that brotherly bond that keeps them talking at holidays, but not often else. The older they get, the more they grow apart and while on some level Rick regrets this, he does not have the time to do anything to change it and Logan seems to do well if not better without him. He would, however be the first person to defend his brother, not matter what it was that he had done. There isn't anything he expressly dislikes about Logan; they're just not as close at they could be.
As a starting player, he was making a better wage and trying to better support his family. Once over the holidays, while Logan was still in school, his mother and Gran shared the fact that they have been feeling guilty for letting him take care of the family, due to the fact that Alicia is not his birth mother. She asked him not to share this information with Logan, because as far as his younger brother is concerned there is little more that needs to be done to tarnish Logan's impressions of his father. While this revelation is somewhat earth-shattering, Alicia is the mother who raised him and as far as he is concerned the only mother he has ever had; of which he is happy to remind her.
Rick's quidditch career was flourishing at the onset of the war and though for a long time Ministry of Magic tried to use quidditch as a distraction from the reality of the danger, he was one of the first to take a stand against the league in hopes it would shed light on the desparate situation at hand. He was present at the Battle of Hogsmeade and though his family came out of if safely, it was too close in his opinion. The press had a field day when he took a harsh political stance against the then Minister of Magic's failure to act. He was released from Puddlemere United and no other team in the league would touch him. During his time somewhat out of the public eye, he became part of an unofficial resistance movement that worked to protect those most endangered and enlighten those who were otherwise in denial. Though he heard many whispers of other people doing far more effective work against He Who Must Not Be Named, it was decided that his noteriety was too great and his involvement too risky for his own protection and that of his family. His earnings helped provide various resources, to more organized movements.
In the absence of a greater threat, the professional quidditch league has returned to its once former glory and Rick was invited back with open arms. He accepted the position of captain and has been leaned on heavily to project an air of normalcy through the games in the coming season. Faced with the reality of his situation, he is conflicted about whether or not the professional quidditch league is where he would like to call home.
