Height:
6’ 2” – rather tall.
Style:
Comfortable - plaids, jeans, t-shirts and sweats. He does dress up for work, when required.
Etc.:
Amos’ stylist is his favorite person – his four year old son. A good day means not having food on his shirt and having relatively clean pants. His son his is number one priority, so he doesn’t worry too much about style except for what is comfortable.
PERSONALITY
Erised:
Cedric happy and well adjusted and not wanting for anything. Ever.
Dementor:
A fight between his parents and sister that he witnessed, about her (at the time) fiance that ended with his sister slapping his mother.
Patronus:
The night that Marilyn's mother left Cedric with Amos, before he was even Cedric, Amos was up late crying for one of the many hundreds of reasons that babies cry. Amos had put together a makeshift nursery in his parent's den and was walking around with him in circles. He carried him around until he could barely move, which did not phase the little one in the slightest. He finally sat down on the couch with baby Cedric in his lap, at which point the baby grabbed Amos' finger and laughed.
Boggart:
Something happening to Cedric.
Likes:
His family - particularly his little sister Danielle, Cedric, hanging out with friends, quidditch matches, work, the muggle world, magic, his family home, rain, the woods, Hufflepuff alumni, being a proud badger, movies, reading books to his son.
Dislikes:
Unnecessary arrogance, ignorance, flip flop shoes, doing laundry, being treated like a child by his parents or sisters, other people's feet, changing diapers - thank Merlin for potty training.
Basic Personality:
Amos adores his family and wouldn't have it any other way but their over-domineering personalities have overwhelmed him to the point that he sometimes feels like he doesn't have a personality to speak of. On the other hand, playing second fiddle to the rest of his family has made him a good listener who is decisive and balanced in his decision making. Any personality he does have, would be described as mischievous. He doesn't mind getting in trouble or bending the rules for a little fun. Amos is an endless source of understanding. He is an excellent listener who tries his best to look at a problem from all sides and all angles. There is very little he would be able to say to a person who presented a logical, well thought out problem or issue to him.

Biography:
With what seems like little of his own opinions and personality, Amos was raised as the middle child between two girls with bold, brash personalities, supported strongly by their over-bearing mother. Like his father, Amos is more calm and stoic. He's evenly tempered and more mild mannered than his sisters, but it mostly comes because they've done as much as they can to beat him into submission, in a caring, loving way. The Diggory's were raised to be a very close family and growing up Amos understood his role, standing behind his sisters and looking out for their best interests when they were not able, more than anything.
Amos has always had a natural affinity for animals. He would bring them home in jars, boxes or even his pocket. When frogs and toads weren't interesting enough he graduated to snakes, newts and lizards from where ever it is that little boys are always able to find such things. To protect him and her house, his mother has taken great care to educate him in various beasts, so that he won't bring home anything wretchedly dangerous. Beyond animals he also had an interest in bugs which proved disastrous when he left for Hogwarts and forgot about the three mantis nests in the box with twigs under his bed. The infestation was incredible and he was sorry to have missed it, though his mother was quite detailed with the specifics in the Howler she sent him.
Eager to start at Hogwarts (perhaps to find some of his own identity), Amos took to school with a vengeance. He had an immediate affinity for animals, excelling in Care of Magical Creatures. He looked out for his little sister, as much as she would let him, which isn't much. Their older sister blazed a path of scholarly excellence, serving as prefect and head girl when she was in school. Amos never had ideas of such grandeur, but he was a good student with accomplishments in Herbology as well as Charms, which go well with COMC. Between sixth and seventh year he had a very significant internship with the Department of Regulation & Control for Magical Creatures and returned for his seventh year highly motivated. He graduated from school with good grades all around; building a great resume for his future career with the Ministry.
He graduated with the class of 1974 in the thick of the war. Eager to join others incensed by the worldly happenings, Amos accepted a paid clerical position with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, which mostly involved a lot of filing that had been put off for the last fifty years or so. His original intent had been to go into some kind of law enforcement, in spite of the fact that it was dangerous. A mixture of fear and pressure from his family kept him between the filing cabinets. His mother and father believed the best way for him to enter the system was to come up through the bottom. For two years he worked diligently, suffering papercuts and alphabetized headaches.
Doubt and uncertainty was kept at bay with what adolescent foolishness he could muster. On a fateful summer evening in 1976, after at a party with some fellow clerks from different departments he graduated he met Marilyn Claridge – a girl from the secretary pool who was foolishly impressed with the title ‘File Retentions Clerk’. She was five years older than Amos and for reasons he could not understand, she was interested in him. Marilyn was a free spirit; unrestricted by any family in particular, though he did have the displeasure of meeting her mother on one awkward occasion when he was staying at her place. She was politically rebellious – believing the strength of the wizarding world lay with the people, not the government. Relatively speaking, the Diggorys were staunchly conservative, believing that the problems in the world should be handled by the Ministry. His mother and older sister couldn’t stand Marilyn, but he was blinded with infatuation.
They had a whirlwind relationship, working for the Ministry during the day to pay the bills and then meeting with fellow grassroots-variety supporters. In retrospect, Amos would admit that they were mostly idiots, just sitting around and talking a big game while other people were living and dying for their causes instead of just talking about them. In early spring of 1977, he expressed his distaste for the loudmouths in Marilyn’s group. His own little sister had joined up with the Ministry of Magic and was accepted into the auror training program. Hateful words were exchanged and with a grand flourish, she declared him ‘not the man’ she thought he was. He moved back home utterly defeated and submitted his own application in to a new job with the Ministry – Agent for the Department of Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures in their Spirit Divison.
Amos completed training in the fall of the same year. He enjoyed working with Spirits and partnering with other departments in the Ministry. His position evolved to something of a liaison within the division; the Ministry eager to form alliances with any who may be helpful to the cause. Amos was starting to feel like he was finding a way to make a difference in the world – a feeling he became sure of when Marilyn’s mother showed up at his parent’s house with a baby that was supposedly his. She said Marilyn had come home, had the baby and then left. His mother and sisters assisted as best they could and a paternity test by a healer his father knew at St. Mungo’s proved the parentage – the boy was Amos’s son. He named him Cedric – ‘kindly and loved’, so that he would never have a question otherwise.
Darcy, his older sister, had in the meantime married a man whose family was highly suspected to be involved with the dark wizards that had been attacking muggles, muggle borns and half blood wizards. She would not listen to reason and asked the family to never contact her. This broke their mother’s heart. Amos knows that she has three sons and that their ages are near Cedric’s. Their father got word that Darcy’s husband had moved the entire family to Albania. They continue to be estranged.
He contacted a friend at the Ministry in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to do a little side investigating into Marilyn’s whereabouts, but after a few months when no information was found, he gave up the search. At night he would hold his son and rock him to sleep and the longer they went on without her, the more he considered the possibility that if she didn’t want to have the privilege of knowing Cedric, than that was entirely up to her. On Cedric’s second birthday, Amos moved the two of them to a small house a few blocks away from the Diggory family house in Ottery St. Catchpole.
Amos still gets occasional assistance from his mother and younger sister who adore their grandson/nephew. His main focus is Cedric and work, to provide for Cedric. He has a nanny – a woman that he trusts implicitly comes to take care of Cedric on the three days per week that he is not with his grandmother, aunt or father. At work, he has promoted to the Office of Misinformation where he serves as a Representative for the Department of Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures, working with members of the Minister’s cabinet. His favorite time of the week are the weekends, when he can spend time with his son.
