JEREMIAH ASHKII PROUDFOOT
Full Name: Jeremiah Ashkii Proudfoot Nicknames: Jer, Jeremy, Jerry, Ash, or just Proudfoot Date of Birth: June 22, 1955 Hometown: Camden District; London, England Education: Former Gryffindor - Class of 1973 Blood Status: Half-Blood Occupation: Auror Employer: Ministry of Magic: Great Britain Wand Type: Blackthorn, 12" - dragon heartstring & manticore hair |
APPEARANCE
Hair:
Jeremiah's hair is complicated at best. It's about neck length and is usually a wavy mess strewn about his head in any kind of fashion. Normally he just washes it, towels it dry, and lets it do its own thing afterward, not caring much for styling it. "I let the wind take care of that," as he would often say to his son when Tatum would complain about how out of control his hair was. When Jer did finally take the time to do something with it, he'll normally take a charm to it so that he's a little bit more presentable.
Eyes:
Hazel green in color, it's a genetic trait he inherited from his mother. In the right company, they're usually crinkled with a smirk that he was trying so very hard to push back. When he's not playing around or watching his son, he's frowning over paperwork - the tint of his eyes darkening from boredom.
Height:
6'2"
Style:
He dons suits for work and that's it. Outside of his job, he's normally in jeans with rips in them and whatever the first thing he can get his hands on in the closet or drawers...the floor? He's not a slob but Jeremiah just doesn't stress about his looks if he can help it. Why bother when he and his son are just going to get dirty on the weekends at the park anyway?
Etc.:
Tall, slim but relatively athletic. Outside of his training exercises, his daily regiment of cardio is chasing after his son, Tatum. He's pretty mean with an ink stamp, too. When not in a suit, he wears what's comfortable since his weekends are normally dedicated to Tatum and his "bodyguard," Mercutio. When he's not smiling, he can come off as a bit cold but in appearance alone. Jerry looks the best when he's in the company of his son, smiling fully and dropping the austere auror demeanor without hesitation.
PERSONALITY
Erised:
To make sure that his son grows up healthy, strong, and into a good person, to help ensure that peace is able to finally come for those of magical and non-magical heritage alike, watching his son graduate, obtain a career that he loves and have a family of his own
Dementor:
The reason that he was holding Tatum in his arms for the first time: Cera ditching the boy soon after he was born
Patronus:
The day he held Tatum in his arms for the first time
Boggart:
Any harm coming to his son
Likes:
Tatum, Mercutio, birds, bourbon, whiskey, jazz & blues, cigarettes, coffee, science fiction novels, a leisurely game of pool, period movies, reading/telling Tatum bedtime stories, most of his co-workers
Dislikes:
Tiny, enclosed spaces; the elevator at the Ministry upsets him, overly crowded places, bigotry, illiteracy, oatmeal raisin cookies, some Native American traditions, beer, corny jokes, country music, fast women, cigars, westerns, mindless stacks of paperwork, red tape preventing him from getting his job done
Basic Personality:
Though at first glance Jeremiah may seem cold and stiff, he really is anything but. He blames the suits he has to wear at work given his profession or the lack of coffee in his system if he's had to rush to get ready for work. Jerry enjoys his job, mostly on days when he isn't forced to stamp mountains upon mountains of case files. On the job, he is serious and thorough - leaving no marginal rooms for errors. People's lives were at stake. Off the clock is a completely different story. Jeremiah generally has a laid-back, easy going attitude and is the most active with his son - his co-workers and best friend being a close second to seeing the sides of him that aren't related to work. First to laugh at a joke and encouraging to those who feel at their lowest, Jeremiah's loyalty to his friends and family are unquestionable. A doting father and great friend, Jerry's just one of the good guys trying to do the right thing.

Biography:
Most of Jeremiah's life before Hogwarts was pretty standard for a young man growing up. Having just one magical parent, he spent most of his life the way muggles did. It just seemed more practical that way. At least that's what his dad, Dakota Proudfoot, believed. Janine loved her husband so she went with it, not really minding so long as her kids did not remain ignorant to the world she grew up in. While most children with magical blood were not required to attend school before the age of eleven, James and Jeremiah did.
It was always interesting as a twin. Being able to fool other people, covering for the other when they got into trouble. They were as thick as thieves. But when Jeremiah and James were sorted into different houses, it was the first opportunity they could have to truly identify themselves for who they would be for the rest of their lives. Jeremiah's relationshp was a bit strained with his brother until their fifth year. Unable to deal with the tension building in their relationship, the two brothers did what they did best whenever they had a "problem." They fought. The two landed themselves detention to be served that night in the Forbidden Forest. They didn't make-up properly. Not until James slipped and fell into the lake and Jeremiah had to jump in and save him. Knowing they would end up just getting into more trouble, they slipped into the Room of Requirement so they could warm up (though it was really just an excuse for them to talk things out). Jeremiah passed out with his brother, having finally managed to bridge the gap between them.
At the end of his sixth year, he'd had a lengthy discussion with his Head of House about his career path. He wanted to become an auror. He knew this without a shadow of a doubt. Professor McGonagall promised that she would help him in any way that she could to help her student obtain his goal. School ended and summer began. Jeremiah thought it would be like any other before it but there was one clear difference: a girl. Her name? Cera Dobkins. She was a poor girl, nobody loved her. She was a poor girl from a poor family (Queen said it best) and tugging at his sympathy strings, Jeremiah fell for Cera hard. One thing led to another and the summer came and went faster than he would've liked. Seventh year began and ended with Jeremiah well on his way to entering the Auror Training program.
His graduation present? A small boy who Cera claimed to be his son. The kicker? She decided not to stick around. With a son to take care of, Jeremiah kicked his training up a notch and knew that he could not afford to screw up during the last leg of his training. No matter how hard things got, Jeremiah was always there for his son. Being a single parent was rough and he certainly wasn't ready to be a father. He took the role on despite the odds being heavily stacked against him. While he may have been bitter toward Cera for shirking her responsibility, he would not do a piss ass job of raising his boy, Tatum. His friends and family were there, supporting him all the way. Jeremiah can't imagine a day in his life without Tatum being in it.
After completing his training, Jerry was finally classed as an auror and has been doing his job to the best of his ability for the past five years. Things, fortunately, were starting to pick up now that the Dark Lord had been announced as "defeated" and to be seen no more. For now. Jeremiah, ever the skeptic, had a hard time believing such a tale and woven by the Daily Prophet. With the Dark Lord's followers still on the loose, Jeremiah would do what he must to protect the safety and peace of the civilians both in the magical world and muggle one.
The biggest stress related issue in his life currently (aside from hunting down Death Eaters)? He has an eight year-old son. Does anything else really need to be said beyond that?
