Biography:
The line between wizard and muggle has always been very clear to most pureblooded families in the wizarding world. And it has always been made clear which side of the line was proper to be found on. Reinard Leclerq never did pay heed to such things. When her sister married a wealthy pureblooded gentleman and relocated to Nice, thus abandoning her family, Reinard chase to stay with his parents and work, taking care of them well through his bachelor years. It wasn't until his late thirties that he met young Adele Marchand, a young, beautiful witch, fresh from university and eager to see the world. She, of course, would see no further than Reinard's face before being convinced that the small, rural town tucked in the hills would be the place for her.
Reinard and Adele were married a few short months after their meeting, and no longer than a year later did they have their first child, a beautiful, raven-haired girl they named Emiline. She was a quiet child that blinked, wide-eyed, at the world around her. They fawned over her greatly, and by the time she was three and out of diapers, they were eager for another.
When Pascal was born, and Emiline was allowed to hold her baby brother, she was awed at the tiny being. She'd never seen something so beautiful in her short life. Her mother, however, was not nearly as interested as young Emiline. She had found her passion in acting, and had her heart set on moving to a large city. Of course, Reinard was not convinced that uprooting their family was a good idea. But Adele would not be stopped. Shortly after Pascal's second birthday, she left them to pursue her career, stealing away in the night.
emiline, though young, did her best to help her father take care of them. She looked after Rascal as very best she could. Through the years, she learned to cook and clean, doing so while her father was at work. When she was older, she would sometimes take care of other children from the neighborhood whose parents worked during the day instead of going to school.
When she was nearly ten, her father introduced Emiline and her brother to Josephine, a woman with sky blue eyes and hair as dark as night. She was a muggle, but she seemed to know of the leclerq's and their 'gifts'. Her stomach was slightly swollen, and her father explained to them both that he and Josephine were in love, and that she was going to have their new baby sibling.
A few months later, little Noelle was born, whom Emiline could not have adored more. Reinard and Josephine were married shortly after that, and their family once more seemed picturesque.
When she was eleven, Emiline was invited to attend Beauxbaton. As her first experience with formal education, the young girl was astounded. She loved every one of her classes and absorbed the information like a sponge. Still, she missed her family desperately, and cherished the time she spent at home with them.
After her graduation, Emiline moved to Paris where she entertained herself as an au pair, working for a few families here and there. Her father had written her that her cousin, Belle, was living in Paris, and with child. She sought her out, eventually finding her. they knew each other vaguely from very rare interactions as children, but Belle welcomed her as if they were old friends. She helped as she could with young Blanche, thought the child was hardly difficult.
After nearly a year in Paris, Emiline met a young gentleman named Anton. To say she was smitten would have been an understatement. He was handsome, charming, and a romantic, and he swept her off her feet. He made her lose all rational thought. They were married in mere months, and by the end of the year, she was pregnant with her first child. Emiline had never remembered a time when she was so happy. When young Jolie was born, she was so in love, she was sure she would never feel so much for any other person in the world.
They moved back to Fontanes, choosing to raise Jolie in a quiet, humble place over the larger city. They shared a large house that Anton bought with the rest of her family, and again, Emiline found herself revelling in her abundant happiness. That was, however, until one night in late January, 1980.
It was well past midnight when they attacked, and, in their stupor, they were left defenseless. The Death Eaters killed everyone, even young Jolie. Why they spare3d her, she'd often wondered, only to assume they wanted to leave the one who would have the most pain to bear. The only grace she was given was that her brother, Parcel, had been away at school and safe.
She went to London to be near Belle as she mourned her losses, burying her pain in work.
