[/div]Barty, though born and raised in England, comes from English, Irish and German heritage.
His amorentias are fresh ink, paper, sugar cane, coffee, wheat, ivory soap and wisteria. His favorite sounds are the gentle fall of rain with a hint of thunder rumbling in the background, the sound of horses padding along on the cobblestone streets, and the whispering tree leaves against a soft breeze.
Barty prefers English Summers over English Winters. To contrast that, he prefers darker colors to lighter ones.
His favorite color is sage.
Barty has a well-rounded vocabulary and talent for languages. Currently he knows English (duh), French, German, Welsh, Russian and Italian; the first three fluently and the latter three semi-fluently. However, he also keeps up to date with the local slang so he doesn't sound like a robot or too uppity in certain circles.
There isn't a book (to date) that Barty hasn't either read or is planning to read. Any book that he has read, he has read more than once. Guaranteed. He has even read several reference books cover to cover. His favorite genre of books are murder mysteries/psychological thrillers, followed closely with epic fantasy adventures, horror, melodrama and classic noir. He's not a big fan of science fiction novels unless they're extremely well written. In other words, not swimming through walls of prose.
Barty has partial Eidetic Memory - heavily influenced by visual and tactile senses.
There is a fine line between genius and insanity. Barty toes that line every single day.
He is a somewhat lazy bastard when it comes to physical exercise. He'll do what he needs to do to stay reasonably healthy, but never an overachiever in that sense.
Barty plays a variety of stringed instruments, but is more proficient with the violin and cello. He's been playing since he was seven years old and is considered to be "on par" with professional violinists and cellists alike. But because his focus has always been on his books and honing his skills as a writer (and as a wielder of the dark arts), he usually only plays when he wants to think and clear his head, if his mother requests it of him, or if his father drags him out to some kind of snooty social function - thrusting him on stage as though he were some prized trophy.
His favorite genre of movies are horror films, psychological thrillers, period pieces and dramas. There are very few fantasy films that have been able to appease his interest the way they do in books.
He doesn't just dislike his father. Barty despises him. As far as he's concerned, Bartemius Crouch, Sr. can go die and rot in a forgotten hole somewhere and never come back.
Barty enjoys equestrian sports. In fact, he just likes horseback riding in general. One of the best presents he ever received was his Black Freesian, Maverick. He visits regularly at the stables where Maverick is a border.
He uses expletives rarely and feels that obscene, rude gestures such as "flipping someone off" are both classless and beneath him. Barty can adequately insult someone if need be and without the use of such vulgarities.
Has an explosive temper. It rarely shows itself since he has been able to gather a proper reign on his emotions. It's only when he completely loses himself (usually from being blindsided) that he will fly off the handle. So yes, he hates surprises.
His first novel, Hands Stained Crimson, was published under the alias Osiris. He created a pseudonym mainly because he did not want to get recognition for his works because he was the son of Bartemius Crouch, Sr. He wrote three more novels after that and it wasn't until his fourth novel that he actually published under his own name. Barty has written a total of six books and has launched the first book of an ongoing series of novels that have already been dubbed as Cold Case: Gilgamesh.
