Basic Personality:
      Valerie is known as flirty, playful, and a child at heart. She does as she pleases, says what she thinks, and lives every day as if it were her last. Getting a straight answer out of her is quite the feat, and she can be a little infuriating with how unbothered by anything she seems. If you asked her who she most closely related to, she'd most likely say Peter Pan; really, all she is is a little girl who is dead-set on not growing up.

      Valerie is a bit of a glutton. She wants everything she wants, and she wants it immediately. In stead of acting cautiously and thoughtfully, she'd rather do now, and think later. 'No' is not very well-received by her, and patience is barely feigned, much less practiced. The idea of romance is not one she holds dear; all relationships she's had have been brief and emotionally one-sided. It isn't that she doesn't care for anybody; she simply finds connecting with someone on a romantic level difficult, and unnecessary enough to not want to change that. She instead chooses to share brief passionate moments tangled in sheets, and connecting emotionally with the select few she deems friends.

Biography:
      Valerie's childhood was rather uneventful. She was born in a muggle hospital, as was her mother's wish, to then Clara Yates and Henry Shaw, who were married just as soon as Clara could lose the baby weight. They were young parents, but they still loved each other very much. They raised their daughter in an open, warm home, much different than those of her muggle friends. They often talked about having more children, but after years of trying, decided it must not be meant to be. Valerie was plenty.

      The Shaws knew their daughter took after her father when 'strange things' started happening in her classroom. When the letter to Hogwarts came, the family was already ready. Going to Hogwarts was one of the most exciting experiences of young Valerie's life, and for good reason. There, she finally found a group of friends who truly knew and understood her. She could be exactly who she was.

      While the social aspect of school was great, the academic aspect was decidedly less so. Despite being very intelligent, Valerie very much disliked doing coursework, and only got by by passing tests. It wasn't that she didn't understand the information, rather that she didn't want to do the work. And, while she only graduated with A's in her classes, her O.W.L.'s were O's nearly across the board.

      After school, Valerie hadn't any idea what to do with herself. She took a year to travel and 'see the world', claiming that she was 'trying to find herself'. However, the catalyst for her choice in careers came a little over a year after her graduation, when her parents were killed by Death Eaters. As she mourned her loss, something inside her changed from pain to anger. She decided not to be a victim, but to use her loss to fuel her actions in a career that would better the Wizarding world. No more than a month later, she enrolled in Hit Wizard training classes, and she has been working with the Ministry for nearly five years.
