ERIC MATTHEW DALTON
Full Name: Eric Matthew Dalton Nicknames: Dylan (like Bob Dylan & Dylan from Magic Roundabout) Ricky, Dalton, Black☆Star [Stage Name] Date of Birth: May 19, 1960 Hometown: Sydney, Australia Education: Former Ravenclaw - Class of 1978 Parents' Names: Bryan and Danielle Dalton (adopted parents) Other Family: Alexandria Dalton, adopted older sister; James Dalton, adopted older brother; Maya Dalton, adopted older sister Blood Status: Muggleborn Occupation: Professional Musician (Rock Star) Wand Type: Aspen, 11 1/4 inches - Manticore Hair Core |
APPEARANCE
Hair:
Eric is a bit of a radical when it comes to his hair. Perhaps being born a magic-user was the best thing when it came to this punk rocker. However, his standard hair color is jet black that is usually hacked in various lengths. It really just depends on how he feels.
Eyes:
Dark brown eyes are the standard, but he has been known to change his eye color at random. Again, learning magic was probably the best thing to have happened to him in his life.
Height:
6'1"
Style:
His clothing style varies depending on what Eric feels like going for. Generally it's baggy cargo pants with a loose-fitting t-shirt or sleeveless shirt to the occasional sweats or "drainpipe jeans" with a hoodie of some sort. Eric is mostly about comfort, but sometimes he'll go out on a limb and wear a blazer over a button-up shirt or t-shirt and some slacks. But, for the most part, it's comfort that counts.
Etc.:
Standing in at 6'1" tall, Eric is slim and presumably weak at first glance. He hates conforming to society and feels that his style is a form of expression on his part. He isn't out to make a scene or to show-off, but simply wants to express to the world who he is and that he will not be told to become what society deems as "normal."
Eric, though he may not look it, is physically fit and capable of holding his own in a fist-on-fist brawl. He likes to fight, but only for sport - nothing serious because outside of that, he's too damn lazy. Because of his love for body art, Eric has piercings on his lip, nose, eyebrow and multiple ones in both ears as well as various tattoos all over his body that are on his arms, hands, chest, stomach and a Buddhist Heart Sutra is on his back. But, because of the lack of funds (as well as not wanting to become totally disgusting and outrageous with the tattoos), he's limited himself to how many more he plans on getting, if at all.
PERSONALITY
Erised:
His greatest dream has now come true, having obtained the title of international rock star with his band, Dead School Screaming, becoming well-known across the globe both in the muggle and magical world. Now his dream is to perform alongside the musician with whom he idolizes the most (Jude Cade) someday.
Dementor:
The day he found out he was adopted.
Patronus:
The day he got "Moon," his first guitar - first of many
Boggart:
Giant spiders - little ones he can handle. The ones that live in the Forbidden Forest freak him the fuck out

Dislikes:
lame people, cops, clingy people (the annoying kind who don't know what the term "bubble" means), colors that clash horribly, going with the crowd/people who conform to society, drugs, smoking (he's trying to quit), arrogance, bossiness, poor losers, those who manipulate others, liars, being ordered around, people snubbing others based on their social class
Basic Personality:
Eric is one seriously relaxed individual. He doesn’t let much get under his skin and only truly is at ease around those he feels the most comfortable with. In this particular case, those people are his siblings and band mates. With a decent sense of humor, Eric is often the first one to laugh among friends, even if the jokes can run a little on the sour side. He loves making light of almost any situation, believing that too much seriousness could cause wrinkles and gray hairs at an early age. Though not vain, he definitely knows he doesn’t want to be looking like an old man by the time he hits thirty.
Though life was a bit tough growing up, he makes the most of it, not getting heated or upset over stupid things and takes life with a grain of salt, enjoying the smell and taste and touch of things, and determined to see the world. Eric loves to travel, taking random road trips here and there with friends and just enjoying his youth. However, he knows that money is tight and learns to budget well, not spending excessive amounts of money and tries to buy what he absolutely needs, wearing his boots, sneakers and jeans out until the soles are tearing loose or the jeans are too ripped to wear anymore. Eric isn’t above taking hand me downs and yes, he does shop at the local Goodwill and Salvation Army.
In his free time and holidays, if he can’t afford to make a road trip, he’s usually writing lyrics or practicing on his guitar. Sometimes he reads and writes for fun, nothing too note-worthy, but it's better than idling around doing nothing. As for people? Well, Eric has a serious case of Commitment Phobia and hasn't settled into any kind of long-term relationship since his last breakup nearly a year ago. He prefers casual flings and having fun - fearing that getting too serious would deter him away from his goals.
BIOGRAPHY
The first couple of years of Eric's life are a bit of a blur. He just remembered being happy. The only real family he ever knew were the Daltons. The fact that he had blood relatives somewhere in the world hadn't really ocurred to him. Hell, it didn't really matter to him because well, Eric didn't know. All he'd known himself to be was simply Eric Matthew Dalton and he liked it that way.
He lived a happy and carefree life. There was nothing much for him to really complain about. His mother and father loved him equally as his other siblings (but Danielle spoiled Eric more because he was so thirsty for knowledge and had tons of goals for his life), and he got along well with his brother and sisters. Even though Alexandria, the oldest of the four, was the Dalton's only biological child, it did not matter to her because she adored her brothers and sister. When they asked for help, she would help them and when they got older and became a bit more rebellious, she would stick up for them (like when Eric turned fourteen, he went and got his eyebrow and lip pierced all in the same day; Alexandria, James, Maya and Danielle had to stop Bryan from strangling Eric's neck).
Out of all his siblings, Eric was closest with Maya simply because they both held a mischievous demeanor and were so close in age. A bit of a tomboy, Maya would skateboard, play soccer, race, surf, play street hockey and do alot of things with Eric. Despite being in different houses, they were as close as if one was in Gryffindor or one was in Ravenclaw. He learned a lot of things from Maya as far as sports, while building and tinkering with appliances and other hardware he learned from his older brother James. The Daltons packed up and moved out from Australia to East End London - specifically to London Borough of Southwark. It wasn't a particularly complicated move and while he knew the reason his parents did so was to help his transition into Hogwarts and easier process, Eric still hated leaving his primary school friends behind. However, in a matter of months he was making new friends in the neighborhood as he attended his last year of public schooling before obtaining his acceptance letter into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It wasn't strange at all that he'd been sorted into Ravenclaw.
Eric fell in love with the guitar at age eleven and was surprised by how good he was. If he could turn his guitar into a woman or man, Eric could almost guarantee that he'd never look at anyone else in the real world ever again. He took styles from a variety of genres of music like Southern Rock, Punk, Alternative, Rock-n-Roll, Heavy Metal, Psychedelic and Classic Rock and just molded them all into one sort of flavorful genre of his own. Eric hasn't figured out what this genre is called yet, but he's determined to come up with a name. For now, it's just called "Starism." The same year, Eric overheard a conversation between his mother and father - discovering that he was adopted. His world had shattered in that moment and it took the Daltons a solid month to finally coax the young man out of the house and to interact with the world once more.
Being the Ravenclaw he was, school was a breeze for him. He looked up to one Ravenclaw in particular during his Fourth Year: a fellow Muggle-born and Fifth Year - Jude Cade. He'd heard him playing around with his guitar in the courtyard one day and Eric has never been the same since then. From that day onward, he'd always looked up to Jude and was determined to keep close tabs on him. It was then that he truly understood just how passionate his love for music was, in addition to the fact that Jude was living his dream despite the hang-ups from school. Eric wasn't giving up.
Eric also looked up to fellow musicians at Hogwarts (even though he showed clear favoritism to Jude) and preferred it that way as opposed to keeping up with his school life, ever since he first heard The Beatles and The Sex Pistols. Music was his life and though knowledge was also important to him, it would always take a backseat to his music. Always.
After he turned fifteen (and several tattoos and a nose ring to boot), Eric formed a band with some close friends back in Southwark, calling themselves Dead School Screaming. It was with the band that he developed his love for black nail polish and black eyeliner...granted, he won't wear it around the house (meaning the eyeliner; the nail polish, well his father was just going to have to get over it). Things were going well, and the group have been together since then.
The summer before his Sixth Year, his mother brought up the issue that Eric may want to go and see about his biological family. Though the Daltons came from a "humble" background, she was willing to pay the airfare for Eric to go back to Japan. However, Eric didn't really see any point in it at all. If they were so desperate to dump him off in an orphanage then maybe it was a good and smart thing not to make them go through any kind of guilt. After all, it wasn't their fault that they couldn't take care of him. Perhaps the circumstances just didn't allow it. Sure, Eric was curious. Who wouldn't be, right? But the important thing was that he knew that he loved his family here, that he loved the Daltons. Nothing was going to change that and neither would his feelings to not seek out his biological family.
That summer was spent traveling with his band mates while he could before parting ways with them to start his Sixth Year at Hogwarts. It is at this point that his laziness is really starting to take root. What really was there left for him to learn? Eric is becoming lackluster in his studies in areas that he didn't much care for to begin with. Transfiguration is clearly his best subject with as often as he changes his hair and eye color for his continually growing punk look. However, if he doesn't pick up the slack and get himself in gear, the year is going to come to a close before he even realizes what's happened. In the meantime, Eric spends most of his time lazing about or working on music - wooing any and all genders into his bed and not caring much else for anything or anyone. If asked, Eric wouldn't really be able to tell a person when he started fearing the idea of commitment - but he'd definitely say that it wouldn't be going away anytime soon unless something or someone miraculous came along. He, sadly, didn't believe in miracles so there went that idea. He's just going to keep pressing along.
Seventh Year went by like a breeze. Class of '78 came and went and Eric pursued his lifelong dream to become a great rock star with his band. Despite how things happened, he somehow fell hard for a particular Slytherin male with a mop of wild curls and a mouth that moved a mile a minute with a thick Irish accent - one that only the Slytherin's best friend could only understand. Again time flew by and the band's popularity skyrocketed until he eventually made his way over to the United States where he took up residency in New York after living back in Australia for a few more years. The band began to garner more and more attention and the ever prevalent scandal arose - even with Eric's blatant disregard to the media and the constant mill of rumors floating about.
Through the grapevine is how Eric heard about what happened back in London. Sadly, because he had gotten the news too late, he could not give anyone aid. He lost friends during the battle, but nevertheless, his life had to continue. A riot broke out in New York just as his band was getting ready to launch their European tour. Eric and a couple of his other bandmates sustained some injuries and their hospitalization was hush-hush from the public. His manager was able to cover up his disappearance from the music scene - having to cancel the band's European tour. Now Eric, on the road to a full recovery, is ready to return to the music scene and relaunch his band's tour as well as a few new songs to add to the mix.
